ITS Research
Traffic Data
If the traffic is dense, information on it becomes more significant. But still traffic information in Switzerland is generated, in large part, from road users calls and is distributed on the radio. Research paves the way to a future, where the capabilities of ITS will be exploited for traffic information.
- Qualitraffic – quality of traffic data
- Swiss requirements for traffic data exchange in Europe
- Coordination between individual traffic information and traffic management
Charging
The introduction of the mileage based heavy vehicle charge LSVA was a Swiss pioneer work in the domain of ITS supported charging for the use of transport infrastructure. Charging can be applied efficiently on a long-term basis only if different European systems are interoperable with each other.
- Technical and economic aspects of mobility pricing
- Impact of the European electronic toll service on Switzerland
- Road Charging Interoperability
ITS Services
Additional value of ITS arises as a result of services, which are offered to road users. New services must be embedded in existing environment and set up in an optimal form, in order to make a significant contribution to urging problems of our society such as climate protection.
- Implementation and use of traffic signal data in road data bases
- Carpooling potential
System Architecture
ITS thrives on networking and will generate substantial synergies thereof. In order to link ITS components without problems, not only interface specifications are required, but as a starting point a consistent and flexible system architecture, which will anticipate future developments. Specific requirements such as efficient operation of systems, security and technical innovation must be taken into account.
- Architecture and time aspects of ITS data
